Estimating COVID-19-Related Excess Mortality Excluding Seasonal Phenomena in Belgium

چکیده
Excess mortality, rather than reported COVID-19 deaths has been suggested to evaluate the impact of SARS-CoV-2 induced Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) pandemic on mortality. However, relationship between excess mortality and is perturbed by seasonal phenomena, such as extreme temperatures influenza. Models used estimate often ignore these underlying patterns. We propose a dynamic linear state-space model all-cause which accounts for above 25°C influenza via Goldstein index. The prediction that not explained heat waves coincides with in year 2020 Belgium.

Excess mortality related to seasonal influenza and extreme temperatures in Denmark, 1994-2010
BACKGROUND In temperate zones, all-cause mortality exhibits a marked seasonality, and one of the main causes of winter excess mortality is influenza. There is a tradition of using statistical models based on mortality from respiratory illnesses (Pneumonia and Influenza: PI) or all-cause mortality for estimating the number of deaths related to influenza. Objective: The relationship between high PTH levels with mortality in hospitalized patients with COVID-19 was evaluated in the present study. Methods: A total of 123 patients were included in the study. The patients were evaluated in phase 1 (on admission) and phase 2 (days...
متن کامل150 Years of temperature-related excess mortality in the Netherlands
Even in present-day high-income countries, there is a lot of evidence of a high degree of vulnerability of the population to both high and low outdoor temperatures. The magnitude of temperature-related mortality is strongly related to a wide variety of social, economic, and behavioural factors. To gain insight into the changing impact of cold and heat on mortality, we analyze Dutch individual d...
